A New Adventure Begins!
Hello faithful friends and jealous on-lookers!
I have safely arrived in Costa Rica for my short-term study abroad experience! That's right, I got the amazing opportunity to revisit the tropics and its biological bounty. For those who followed me in the Yucatan, these next three weeks will essentially be an extended "Kiuic". We will be traveling between field stations conducting research in specific groups. I am a proud member of the bird group meaning that my research will focus around the netting of birds and wing measurements to observe morphological differences between species (or at least that's what I think we're doing who knows where our results will take us!!)
Our first station is Palo Verde; shortly after our arrival we went straight to work setting up mist nets. For that reason, I have to wake up bright and early tomorrow to start catching birds! We've already set up two mist nets and have since caught 5 bats (3 of which are vampires)! So we're hitting the ground running here in Palo Verde!!! I'll post photos tomorrow because I am just tuckered out from a day of traveling.
